Certifications for lead investigation disciplines:

After attending Lead Sampling Technician and Lead Hazard Investigator, the Dept. of Health and Family Services will issue a Hazard Investigator card.  You can perform risk assessments and lead safe investigations.

After attending Lead Sampling Technician, Lead Inspector course and an XRF manufacturer training, the Dept of Health and Family Services will issue you a Lead Inspector Card.

After attending Lead Sampling Technician, Lead Hazard Investigator, Lead Inspector and an XRF manufacturer training, the Dept of Health and Family Services will issue a Lead Risk Assessor card.  A Lead Risk Assessor can perform both Inspections and Risk Assessments.

The Dept of Health requires an application to be filled out and they do have experience requirements.  Contact the Dept of Health at 608-261-6876.

*** The risk assessor discipline is a federally recognized discipline.  In the first three days of the Lead Sampling Technician and Hazard Investigator courses, there is not much time allotted for the presentation and discussion of the extensive regulations that govern lead issues.  By taking all three courses, an extensive understanding of the regulations can be obtained.  By understanding and being aware of the regulations, individuals can learn where their new skills and services are needed and can be applied.
